Ten Reasons NOT To Join Nitika ((and why you're wrong)) Featuring quotes from real guests who have refused to join.
1. "I've never roleplayed bears and know nothing about them."
...Your point? Nitika has not only a clear set of rules, but an FAQ and a Bear Roleplaying Guide for you to get started roleplaying bears. Yeah, it's something out of the ordinary, but where else will you find an active bear RPG? Isn't doing something different good?
2. "I'm new at roleplaying / not good at it."
We welcome roleplayers of all skill levels. We have all kind of members here, and each post you make only has to be 75 words. It's hard to find RPGs with limits so low. And then, you have plenty of room to grow; we not only have beginner members, but literate and advanced members too. They give you plenty of opportunities to learn, just be reading their posts.
3. "75 words? I haven't written that little in years."
Yes, 75 measly words. We want to open Nitika to anyone who's interested. That means a low word limit. But many of our members post much more than that. Sometimes, posts get up to 700 words in length, or more! Our co-administrator is known for making posts well over 1000 words. And this gives you room for bad days, so that when you have no muse you don't have to write a boring, repetitive post just to make the word limit.
4. "I'm more into fantasy RPG's."
Expand your horizons. Everyone here is new to roleplaying bears, so you're not alone by any means. And Nitika isn't the most realistic RPG out there... we have extinct species for you to roleplay, lands from ice fields to deserts, and weather that gets seriously out of whack. But my personal favorite reason... Nitika means moral. A moral is a lesson to be learned form a story or legend, right? Don't tell me you thought I just picked Nitika off the top of my head. Nitika was named that way for a reason... I wanted things realistic with a lot of creative freedom, and the way I thought of that working was through legends. Just take a look at our first plot, "The White Bears" for instance. And trust me when I say it won't stop there.
5. "You never even get ten members online in the past 24 hours."
You know all those RPGs where forty members login over 24 hours? Really, it's about ten. Here, you only need one account for all your roleplaying characters. So know, we don't have fifty members, but neither do those RPGs with numbers in the hundreds. Our member count is accurate, so we're not fooling you into believing we're more active than we are. (And for the record, we did get ten members online in the past 24 hours all three day weekend long, lol).
6. "So... you're not active?"
We're far from being inactive. We have about thirty bear characters running around Nitika. Most members roleplay actively, so we get plenty of activity around here. Again, don't by fooled by member counts.
7. "I don't have any idea how to go about making a bear."
Bear characters... they're not as easy as dogs or cats, but they aren't much more difficult. See, though, you don't even have to worry about that. We have an adoption board, so you can adopt characters that have already been finished. Then, once you're used to roleplaying bears, you can create the bear you really want.
8. "I think your rating might be too mature for me."
...Um. We're PG. xD Yeah, we give our members most freedom, they can swear among other things. But any posts that are mature? Not allowed; it can be kept to PM. We keep a close monitor on all our boards so you have nothing to worry about.
9. "There are no lands to claim. I want to lead a pack."
First of all, there are no "packs", but instead "family groups". Anyone can lead a family group as long as they're active and achieve so many IC posts. Also, there aren't any claimable lands. Family groups roam as they please, usually following as source of food like a deer herd as it moves. This leaves more room for conflict between groups, especially seeing as there are limited shelters that may need to be fought over.
10. "You have upgraded member. Can't everyone just be the same?"
Upgrades are free; they cost fake currency, so you're all on even ground. We want to reward our active members. By offering an "upgrade" they can have special perks. There is NO REASON you need to upgrade. Upgrading just gives you discounts on purchasing rare species, markings, or coat colors (like green or blue!) for your bears. You get to access an awesome island off the coast of Nitika with some pretty cool lands. There are sneak peeks at what's coming for Nitika, among other things. All it is, is a reward for activity. Everyone's equal; we don't put limits on people who aren't upgraded. But this is how we feel members who deserve rewards should get them, by having access to things they want.
See for yourself!
