// t r o u b l e I must be out of my head
A tall ebony hellion strode through the thick jungle bush. There were some fresh cuts on his pelt but he didn’t even seem to care. The cuts were small and looked to be made by thorns, probably from some kind of plant in this jungle. A long ebony forelock covered one of the brute’s deep violet optics, his coat was sleek and the mist from the jungle clang to his pelt, making him sweat and his coat shimmer from the moisture. The onyx hued brute was engulfed in his thoughts. He wasn’t really even paying attention to his surroundings. Of course he moved onward with long, steady strides, just because he was lost deep in thought didn’t mean he was just going to stand there like and idiot and stare blankly into space. What were the thoughts that he was so lost in though? They were angry thoughts, miserable thoughts and confused ones. He was angry at his twin sister Chaos because she just pissed him off regularly and took pleasure in making him feel pain and watching him squirm with discomfort. She was the only one who knew where his soft spots were, she was the only one who knew the flaws in his armor and she was the only one who knew how to taunt him and get a reaction. Usually he was cool and confident and doing whatever he felt like, be that flirting with a vixen or doing something dangerous just because. He didn’t care much for others, or at least he would make it seem like that. He did care, sometimes. He would care about the vixen he loved, if he ever found one and he would care about his foals. He was a different kind of dark; he wasn’t the kind that didn’t believe in love or anything like that. Of course his love wouldn’t be all soft and light, no; it would be a little more dark and twisted but still a romance. That was when Chaos would catch him, because she knew what he secretly wanted and of course she was the kind of vixen who didn’t believe in love and simply wanted power. She knew that he wanted a dark romance with another vixen; she knew that he wanted a vixen to return the dark, flirtatious games he would play and return the advances he made. At least Chaos hadn’t stalked him here; she was probably back flirting with some powerful brute.
The light from the sun was dim; the emerald colored leaves that made a canopy up above gave a strange tint to the light. Strange sounds could be heard through out the jungle and as the brute glanced up to see where the closest sound came from he met the curious eyes of a colorful bird. The brute halted and fixed his own optics with the ones’ of the bird. Neither one blinked for a few seconds then the bird flew away. The brute muttered something under his breath and continued on. The anger of the memories of his sister still lingered and he was having a difficult time trying to shake them. He couldn’t actually conjure up any happy memories, not right now. He couldn’t think of any time where he had experience true happiness. Well, he could but when he thought of those memories they would bring along pain at their sides. Too late, those memories flooded back and he couldn’t stop them, not this time. The memories of the golden and ebony vixen filled his head. Her golden pelt with ebony hued pillars and onyx colored banner and locks. Her dark chocolate optics held mystery and mischief as she locked her optics with your own. It felt like some one had plunged a knife into him and dragged it across the length of his chest. It hurt to think about that vixen and he tried to block those memories out. The brute shook his dial and bolted forward, pain and anger flowing through him. The two emotions pushed him onward and he did not argue. He kept his optics open and weaved through the insanely tall trees. Plants and vines grabbed at him but he pushed onward, refusing to let the jungle swallow him.
He soon felt water splashing up his numb pillars; he was running with the river, going where ever it was going. He just wanted to get away, get somewhere where he could be away from his sister, away from her taunting that conjured up all the memories he wanted to stay locked up in the back of his mind. Of course he always lashed back out at her with his own cool lyrics and he knew that he usually hit her in her soft spots. Of course she would deny it then go do something to prove him wrong. Well she could go do whatever she wanted because as long as she wasn’t hanging around him he was fine. A voice in the back of his head was telling him that the water was getting deeper, that it was pulling stronger and he should start paying attention. And as soon as that voice spoke up a little louder the brute was jerked from his thoughts. As soon as the brute looked around he noticed that the river had gotten a lot winder and that it was soon coming to an end because the land just ended right up ahead. The brute dug his daggers in but the river bed was rock and he didn’t have much grip and the river’s current was becoming stronger and stronger; pushing him forward. He put his daggers in harder and the second he got a bit of grip he wheeled on his haunches and reared around to face the left river bank. The brute let out a piercing cry, not of panic or fear but of resistance. He wasn’t going to get killed by some stupid river. Water dripped off of his daggers and pillars for the one moment that he was rearing then he plunged forward to the left. He raised his pillars high as he galloped, trying to keep as much of them out of the water. The onyx hued brute took one final leap and jumped from the river to shore.
Everything from his chest down was soaked and dripping with water. His chest rose and fell quickly for a few seconds as he caught his breath. He glanced back to the raging river once more then walked over to the edge of the cliff. He looked down and saw the river plunging down into a deep crystal clear pool of water. He could see the bottom of the pool of water it was so clear, he could see the skeleton of one unfortunate equine that had fallen off the cliff and drowned in the water, probably because of the force of the fall. He sucked in a huge breath and let it out slowly as he looked down. It was quite a way down. The brute looked around and saw that the cliff slowly began to slope down to the bottom. The brute followed the naturally made path and picked up a trot. He looked around to see what was at the bottom of the cliff. There was a small rim of sand that was around the large pool of water and then it turned to grass. The cliff continued and made a sort of wall on both sides then in the middle the cliff ended and made way for the forest. Trees grew on the top of the wall as well and gave some shadow but there was also a bit of sun that covered the meadow. As soon as he reached the bottom he saw that there was a cavern hidden behind the waterfall. This place was beautiful but the forest that stood around him and lay ahead gave it an eerie feel as you could not see very far into the forest because of its denseness. The ebony brute trotted over to the middle of the grassy clearing and reared up, the sunlight hitting his pillars while the rest of him stayed in the shadows. "I'm Trouble, and these lands now belong to me!" Trouble screamed at the top of his lungs and some birds took off from the trees that surrounded him. Trouble came down from his rear, barely making a sound on the soft grass.
